The Invest Malaysia 2010 conference which will be held on March 30-31 is expected to attract over 600 local and foreign participants, says

MGCC helps Malaysian firms do business abroad

A number of Malaysian companies have confirmed that they will take part in Bauma 2010, a major trade fair that takes place in Munich in April. Malaysia has potential for halal vaccines

Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry, Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir says that the country has the potential to be a major producer of halal vaccines and help improve public health in Muslim countries. “Currently, the majority of halal vaccines are produced and consumed in non-Muslim countries. Yet, the reception is tremendous.

 So, if the vaccines can be produced domestically, I am certain, we can meet demand for the product in Asia,” Mukhriz said. And he added that the entrepreneurs in the healthcare sector are being encouraged with loans, incentives and grants.

US wants Malaysia as a top trading partner

Deputy US Trade Representative, Demetrious Marantis, on a visit to Kuala Lumpur said that the US wants to see Malaysia  among America’s top ten trading partners. “In 2006, Malaysia was our 10th largest trading partner. Today, it ranks 17th and we want Malaysia to be back among the top 10,” he said. And the added that the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP), would help to strengthen the relationship between the two nations. Domestic investments to grow 40%, says Minister

Malaysia’s International Trade and Industry Minister, Mustapa Mohamed, says, that domestic investments are expected to increase by 40 percent this year, from 32.2 percent in 2009. Last year, almost 70 per cent of investments approved by the Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (MIDA) were from abroad, says the Minister.

Emirates increases flights to Kuala Lumpur

The UAE’s airline Emirates has added an extra daily connection between Dubai and Malaysia’s capital, Kuala Lumpur – making a total of 21 weekly non-stop flights. New boss for Malaysia’s Petronas

Malaysia’s state oil company Petronas has appointed Shamsul Azhar Abbas as chief executive, Prime Minister Najib Razak said. Shamsul Azhar was previously chief executive officer of the Petronas division, MISC – the world’s biggest operator of liquefied natural gas tankers. Shamsul, 57, replaces Mohd Hassan Merican.
